Love me some E38. Ultimate DD, and such a handsome car with M-parallels on it. It's actually pretty athletic for it's size.

I've always loved E38s. If I had $20k to spend on a new or used car, I'd buy an E38, long wheelbase, in fantastic condition and save the change. Or an E38 M Package. Drooooool

With that $20k you can buy a pristine M sport long wheelbase, AND do a 6MT swap!

My uncle had a 740iL and riding in that is what hooked me onto BMWs. Now that I've stopped hooning my E39 so hard (the next set of repairs will be costly I bet so I take it easy now), I'd love to snatch up an E38 long wheelbase. It'll drive as beautifully has my 530i with the beautiful 4.4 V8 and an even smoother riding suspension.

That sounds awesome. I've never driven an E38, only ridden in the rear in a 750iL and man was it comfy. How do these handle spirited driving?

Never driven an E38, but car mags said it could hang with the best of them. I remember it beating the Audi S8 and Merc whatever in a test a few years ago when the M package came out. BMW and M engineers have a weird black magic when it comes to making big cars drive like little cars in the twists.

That's good to hear, I would probably put some coilovers on it anyways as the springs are probably going to be done by now. I've seen one autocross before and it was amazing
